Why do we love Aputure LS 600D?

Let’s count the ways – we love the output, energy consumption, and components of this Light Storm daylight LED light.

Output

The LS 600D is a powerful COB LED fixture that produces an incredible 8,500+ lux with an optional Hyper Reflector, or up to 29,300+ lux at 3 meters with an F10 Fresnel. The result is bright day-balanced light output comparable to 1200-watt industry standard HMI lights – without bulb changes.

This Aputure 600D scores high colour accuracy measurements of 96+ on the Color Rendering Index (CRI) and the Television Lighting Consistency Index (TLCI). CRI is a colour temperature standard that measures the accuracy of how a light source renders true colours. TLCI assesses the same for video. This light storm daylight LED light produces consistently accurate white light.

Separate control box

A separate control box with wireless control methods is handy with lights mounted overhead. The control box offers multiple control methods: 2.4G Remote Compatibility, DMX512 In & Out, and the Sidus Link mobile app for Bluetooth app control. You can adjust the brightness from 0 to 100 in 1 percent increments.

The control box also features eight built-in special effects.

Energy consumption

This Storm daylight LED light needs a maximum power draw of 720W in contrast to the HMIs’ higher power demands.

The Aputure 600D can also run off V Mount mount batteries on V Mount battery plates or Gold mount batteries on Gold mount battery plates at 50 percent output. Unlike the Aputure LS 600D Pro, the Aputure 600D plugged in light to AC power or DC power can’t charge the V Mount batteries.

Components

We all know Aputure’s reputation for sturdy construction, shown by the components of this fixture:

  • The light’s yoke design makes it easy to mount and adjust the light 360 degrees.
  • The integrated Bowens mount allows you to add accessories and modifiers.
  • The lightning clamp attaches the control box securely to a stand.
  • The 6-metre Neutrik® Power Cable connects you to power.

And everything fits in a sturdy wheeled carry case for easy portability.

Who’s the Aputure LS 600D perfect for?

It’s perfect for anyone who needs a strong, controllable light. Imagine hiring just one light that could meet all these lighting challenges with an output comparable to larger fixtures.

  • My interview subject needs a strong key light.
  • I have to light a large area.
  • I need to mimic sunlight through a window.
  • I want to accent details with a backlight.
  • I need to create a visual effect.

With this light, now you can!

What’s the difference between the Aputure LS 600D and Aputure LS 600D Pro LED light?

Aputure based the LS 600D on the 600D Pro Light Storm but redesigned the LS 600D Pro to make it more affordable. The build meets the high quality of the LS 600D Pro, and the output and colour accuracy are the same.

The 600D Pro LED Light Storm has advanced DMX features, while the LS 600D does not. The Pro LED Light Storm has sealed internal structures, making it the first Light Storm fixture and first Bowens mount LED to be water resistant in various inclement weather environments.

The Aputure LS 600D Pro LED light’s most advanced power system uses AC power or DC power or external power stations. The 600D Pro Light Storm has a multi-voltage V Mount and a dual battery plate for V Mount batteries or Gold mount batteries.

The control box for the LS 600D is half the weight of the Apurture LS 600D Pro’s control box.

What’s the difference between Amaran and Aputure?

Maybe you’ve heard about other daylight balanced fixtures like Amaran. Amaran is part of Aputure, but the brand focuses on affordability. Amaran lights have fewer features in a more basic product. Aputure lights are designed for more complex lighting challenges. They are sturdier and offer more features.
